A practical planning worksheet

Compare moving quotes on the same terms.

Two moving estimates can describe different jobs even when both show the same pickup and destination. Use this worksheet to compare the work, timing and charges in each written estimate before choosing a mover. It works for a Jacksonville move or a move elsewhere in Florida; confirm the terms that apply to your particular route.

How to use this page: Give each mover the same inventory and access details. Print this page, or save it as a PDF using your browser’s Print menu. Fill in the two quote columns and mark anything missing as “not confirmed.” Keep the original estimates with your notes.

Start with one description of the move.

  1. Inventory: list large furniture, approximate box counts, fragile pieces and any specialty items. Include photos when requested.
  2. Route: provide pickup, delivery and additional stops. Describe stairs, elevators, loading space and the walk between the vehicle and each door.
  3. Schedule: share preferred dates, building moving hours and any deadline for receiving keys or vacating the property.
  4. Requested work: identify packing, furniture disassembly, transport, loading, unloading and setup separately.

Your comparison worksheet

Use the same move details for Quote A and Quote B.

Protection and supportWritten protection options, exclusions and the support or claims contact.
Quoted totalTotal as written and every amount still awaiting confirmation.

Resolve the gaps before comparing totals.

A blank line does not mean a service is free or included. Ask the company to explain what is covered and update the written estimate if necessary. If one quote includes packing and another expects you to pack everything, compare the scope first. Keep separate rental-truck, portable-container or storage charges in your overall budget when arranging labor-only help.

For an hourly quote, confirm the crew rate and minimum before estimating labor: the quoted crew rate multiplied by the applicable billable hours gives a labor subtotal, with other confirmed charges considered separately. An estimated duration can change. Do not treat a worksheet calculation as a fixed-price agreement.

Questions to send back to the mover
