There is no universally cheapest day to hire movers. Ask for comparable weekday and weekend quotes for your actual shipment. JEM's standard quote planner does not automatically discount a move because it falls on a weekday, so confirm any date-specific offer in writing.
Flexibility can help you find an available crew, but an available date and a discounted rate are different things. Compare the total household cost of changing dates before assuming the move becomes cheaper.
Ask about dates using the same inventory
Choose two or three dates you can genuinely use. Give the office identical addresses, furniture, carton counts, packing needs and access details for each request. Ask whether changing the date changes the price, the available arrival window or neither.
If one date requires a larger crew or a different service, record that difference. A date comparison stops being useful when the quotes describe different jobs.
Understand busy periods without treating them as a tariff
Florida's moving consumer guidance identifies summer as a busy period and notes that weekend rates can be higher. That is a reason to ask about alternatives, not proof that every company follows the same calendar or that a particular Tuesday is always cheapest.
Ask early when the date is constrained by a closing, lease handover or building reservation. Securing a workable plan can be more valuable than waiting for an uncertain reduction.
Count the costs outside the moving invoice
An apparent saving may disappear if changing dates adds rent, storage, an extra pickup or time off work. Compare those costs with the difference in the written moving estimate. Make sure the destination can accept delivery and that you have keys for the proposed window.
For a condo or apartment, confirm the elevator and loading reservation before changing the move. A cheaper quoted slot is not useful if the crew cannot access the property.
Distinguish a date choice from a same-day request
JEM's current terms provide a separate $200 same-day moving fee, once per move, subject to availability. This concerns a move requested for today; it does not mean every short-notice future booking carries that same charge. Ask the office to explain the quoted urgency line.
Read the emergency move cost guide if your dates are urgent. For a planned move, preparation can also reduce avoidable work: finish cartons, label rooms and confirm access. Savings depend on actual billable hours and minimums.
Use the JEM cost guide and booking timeline, then ask for an itemized quote for the date that works for your whole move.
